Forest green island, Pontcanna
Standalone kitchen island in forest green eggshell with the rest of the kitchen kept white. Brass hardware throughout.
The owners of this Edwardian villa in Pontcanna wanted to add depth and a focal point to a large white kitchen without committing to a full two-tone respray. A statement island in a rich green was the answer.
The surfaces we sprayed.
Why Forest green (custom).
A custom-matched forest green in eggshell gives the island a deep, characterful presence against the surrounding white units and warm brass hardware. Keeping the wall and base units white lets the island do the talking.
The prep behind the finish.
Doors, drawer fronts and panels were degreased, sanded, chip-filled and sanded again, then primed with a two-pack adhesion primer. We applied three coats of Becker Acroma 2K commercial lacquer in the chosen finish, cured flat in the studio, and sprayed the carcasses on-site. Preparation is the slow, decisive part of any kitchen respray.
How it changed the kitchen.
The island doors and panels were prepped and sprayed to a flawless eggshell finish, brass hardware refitted, and the kitchen gained a genuine focal point in two days — a fraction of the cost and disruption of a new island unit.
The carcasses, layout and worktops were all in good order — only the finish looked tired. Respraying kept everything that worked and refreshed only what needed it, at a fraction of the cost of a new kitchen and with minimal disruption to the home.
