A written warranty handed over on sign-off, transferable to the next owner of the property if you sell. No small print, no asterisks.

UPVC respraying

5-year written warranty against adhesion failure, peeling, flaking, or significant colour shift on every external UPVC surface we spray. Coverage starts on the day you sign off the job.

Kitchen respraying

5-year written warranty on the 2K commercial lacquer finish for cabinet doors, drawer fronts, end panels, and islands. Domestic use only.

What's covered

If the finish fails, we put it right.

Covered

Adhesion failure (paint lifting from the substrate)
Peeling, cracking, or flaking
Significant colour shift beyond normal weathering
Hairline cracking in the lacquer film
Premature gloss loss or chalking

Not covered

Damage from impact (e.g. a bike against the door)
Cleaning damage from solvents, white spirit, or abrasives
Movement or warping of the underlying substrate
Pre-existing structural damage to frames or carcasses
Acts of God (fire, flood, falling tree)

Transferable

The warranty stays with the property.

If you sell the house inside the warranty period, the cover transfers automatically to the new owner. We don't require notification, and there's no transfer fee. The signed certificate you receive on completion is the document the new owner needs.

This is a deliberate decision on our part. Property buyers see a transferable warranty as a value signal. We want the work to be a selling point, not a question mark.

How to claim

Three steps if something's not right.

1. Email us with photos

Send photos and a short description to hello@refinishingstudio.co.uk. Include the job address, the date the work was done, and what's gone wrong.
2. We assess within 5 working days

We respond with either a confirmation that it's a warranty issue and a date we'll come back, or a diagnosis of what's happened if it falls outside warranty terms.
3. We come back and put it right

If it's a warranty issue, we strip and respray the affected area at no cost. Typical turnaround: within 4 weeks of agreement.

How long is the warranty?

Five years on every job, UPVC and kitchens alike. Both are written warranties handed over on sign-off.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell?

Yes. Fully transferable to the next property owner, no fees, no admin required. The signed certificate is the document they need.

What if the finish peels after 6 years on a UPVC job?

Outside the written warranty, we'd assess the cause. If it's a manufacturing or application issue, we'd usually put it right at cost or no cost depending on the case. Properly applied UPVC respray rarely fails inside 20 years.

Are kitchen warranties really 5 years?

Yes. Becker Acroma 2K commercial lacquer comfortably exceeds that lifespan in domestic kitchen use. We've never had a major claim. Most claims we've had are accidental damage from cleaning products, which fall outside the warranty.

Do I need to register the warranty?

No. It's automatic from the date of sign-off. You keep the certificate; the warranty is yours.

What about minor scratches or chips from daily use?

Not covered, but easily repaired. We can do small touch-up visits at a flat call-out charge. For UPVC, most minor damage can be sanded and over-sprayed in 30 minutes.
