Window grey new-build, Aberystwyth
New-build semi with chalky white UPVC against red brick. Every visible frame, plus the front door, sprayed window grey to match the slate roof tiles. One day on site.
The owners wanted a lighter, softer grey than anthracite — something to tie the frames to the slate roof without going as dark as charcoal. The chalky developer white had already started to look tired.
The surfaces we sprayed.
Why Window grey (RAL 7040).
Window grey (RAL 7040) is a lighter, cooler grey that picks up the tones in a slate roof and keeps a frontage feeling bright. It's an ideal middle ground for owners who find white too plain but anthracite too dark.
The prep behind the finish.
Every surface was washed with industrial degreaser, sanded to key the plastic, and wiped down with isopropyl alcohol. Glass, seals, hardware and brickwork were fully masked, a two-pack adhesion primer was applied, then three coats of UV-stable Kolorbond colour. The preparation is around 70% of the work and the reason a respray lasts.
How it changed the property.
Every visible frame and the front door were sprayed in a single day on site, tying the windows neatly to the roof and lifting the whole elevation without the cost of new frames.
The frames and glazing units were structurally sound — the only problem was the colour. Respraying kept perfectly good double glazing in place and delivered a factory-style finish for a fraction of the cost of replacement, in days rather than weeks, with no scaffolding and no mess.
